Wit & Wisdom Sonoma is Chef Michael Mina’s first venture into wine country dining. He brought his Michelin-starred precision here and set it alongside Sonoma’s salt-of-the-earth sensibility. You’ll eat that combination in a seared duck breast finished with crisp sage, and in the charred flatbread that arrives from the hearth oven still crackling.

Culinary Philosophy
The hearth oven is the center of this kitchen. Everything that passes through it takes on the same character: char at the edges, smoke worked into the marrow of the dish, a little more patience than a conventional range allows. It’s a technique older than the restaurant itself, and it shapes the menu more than any single ingredient does. The kitchen turns with Sonoma’s seasons, not with a calendar.

Warm wood, ambient light, and a well-stocked bar with a serious spirits collection. Outside, the bocce court draws the kind of slow Sonoma evening worth savoring. Happy hour runs Tuesday through Sunday, 5 to 6 p.m., followed by dinner until 9. You can also arrange pickup until 8:30 p.m. for nights you’d rather eat fireside in your room.

Just off the main dining room, a semi-covered private dining terrace holds long communal tables set with crisp linens and crystal, warmed by a stone fireplace and strung with festoon lights beneath a louvered pergola.
